Monday Morning Men’s League Closing Fun Day
The Monday Morning Men’s League closed the season with a fun spiel and pizza, as well as something cool to wash it down. This year’s spiel was a Fill the House format which involves a race to the button, where no rocks can be removed by the other team and points are given for shot rocks and all other rocks in the house. Five points are given for shot rocks biting the button, three points for shot rocks not biting the button, and one point for every other rock of both teams in the house. The team with the highest number of points at completion of the spiel is the winner.
We had eleven teams participating, each of which played five ends over a seven end period. The winning team with 49 points was Jerry Trudell, Dave Harrison, Marc Dupuis and Marty McDonald. Finishing a close second was the team of Jack Dingle, Carman Herrington, George Bellehumeur plus a spare for each game with 45 points. A couple of points back in third were the foursome of Craig Kerr, Doug Cheer, George Kendall and Jim Moore. Thirty-nine points gave the Brian Brose rink with Mark Molin, Al Poundsett and a spare for each game fourth place. All teams received cash prizes. The door prize draw went to Jerry Trudell.
Our heartfelt thanks to Paul Langevin for coordinating this closing event and to Bob Burke for running the league this year. Also kudos to Jim Anderson for great ice. See you all next year.
