The following leagues are available at the Brighton Curling Club:
Monday Morning Men's
Curlers sign up individually for this league. League convenors draft the teams. All skill levels welcome. There will likely be 2 draw times. Tentatively set for 8 and 10 am.
Monday Afternoon Women's
Fun and fellowship for ladies only! Sign up as an individual and teams will be made up by league convenor. Novice to experienced players. Start time: 1 pm.
Monday Eve Adult Learn to Curl - (1st Half Only)
This is a fun and effective format for novice curlers. The programme is delivered by our trained instructors. The Adult Learn To Curl (ALTC) will start in October and end in December/January. Sessions are on Mondays at 7 pm. After taking this course, you are then eligible to sign-up for an ensuing offering of the Rookie League, or for any of our other league offerings.
This programme requires more organizing than other league offerings, and the provision of qualified instructors. So the actual start date may be later than other leagues. You'll be advised of the start date via an email, soon after you sign up.
Monday Eve Rookie League - (2nd Half Only)
The Rookie League is for people in their first two years of curling. This is a half-season league. There will be two draws. Start times are to be determined.
Tuesday Morning Pick-up
This is a "show up and play" format. Teams are drawn by the league convenor at the start of each day of play. Dependent on the number of people who show up, we form 2, 3, or 4-person teams. Teams also have the option of rotating through positions during their game. Lots of opportunity to meet and play with a wide range of members, and to improve skills. Novice to experienced curlers welcome. Start time: 9 am.
Tuesday Afternoon 2-Person Stick
A league for 2-person teams - stick curlers only. Two draws, with start times of 1 and 2 pm.
Tuesday Evening Open
Although team entries are preferred, we will make every effort to accommodate individual entries. An enjoyable evening of curling for novice through experienced curlers. There will be 2 evening draw times. Actual times to be finalized.
Wednesday AM 2-Person - 1st Draw.
This is a 2-person curling format, with 6 ends of play. Limited sweeping, players alternate between skipping one end and delivering 6 rocks the next end. The league format and rules enable players to more quickly improve shot-making, develop strategy, and to better read the ice. Suited for all skill levels. Games start at 8:30 am.
Wednesday AM 2-Person - 2nd Draw
This is a 2-person curling format, with 6 ends of play. Limited sweeping, players alternate between skipping one end and delivering 6 rocks the next end. The league format and rules enable players to more quickly improve shot-making, develop strategy, and to better read the ice. Suited for all skill levels. Games start at 9:45 am.
Wednesday AM 2-person - 3rd Draw
This is a 2-person curling format, with 6 ends of play. Limited sweeping, players alternate between skipping one end and delivering 6 rocks the next end. The league format and rules enable players to more quickly improve shot-making, develop strategy, and to better read the ice. Suited for all skill levels. Games start at 11 am.
Wednesday Afternoon Triples
Our newest league, this is a 3-person curling format, with 6 ends of play. Players rotate through the lead, vice and skip roles with 2 ends at each position. The league format and rules enable players to improve shot-making, develop strategy, and to better read the ice more quickly. Suited for all skill levels. This league is individual entry. Game start times are 1:30 pm.
Wednesday Evening - 2 alternating draw times
A great night of fun curling in a relaxed atmosphere! Although individual entries are preferred, we will accommodate twosomes/couples. All skill levels welcome. An excellent learning opportunity for novice curlers. Each team's game start time can alternate between 6 and 8:15 pm, from week to week.
Thursday Morning Open
Curlers sign up individually for this mixed league. New curlers and curlers of all abilities welcome. Teams are made up by the convener. Start time: 9 am.
Thursday Evening Open Competitive
A competitive league. Although team entries are preferred, we will make every effort to accommodate individual entries. Best suited for more experienced curlers. Start time: 7 pm.
Friday Happy Hour League
The mixed “Happy Hour” league’s focus is fun on the ice and socializing afterwards. Ideal for novice to experienced curlers. Although team entries are preferred, we will make every effort to accommodate individual entries. Just like our Friday Night Social, this league has 6 ends. Start time is 3:30.
Friday Evening Social - 2 alternating draw times
Friday evening’s focus is fun on the ice and socializing afterwards. Ideal for novice to experienced curlers. Individual or team entries – everyone welcome! The game start time can alternate between 6:15 and 8 pm, from week to week.
Sunday Morning Doubles
2-person teams. 2 rocks are placed. One team member throws rocks 1 and 5; the other member throws rocks 2, 3 and 4. Teams can alternate which rocks are thrown from end to end. Sweeping is allowed (by the non-thrower) the length of the ice. 8 end game. Games are Sunday mornings at 10 am.
Sunday Afternoon Juniors Program
Designed for youth aged 8 to 17 of all abilities and experience. Focus will be on curling skills and game play. Beginners welcome.
