In 2024, Nancy Sheppard and Caroline Watt accomplished the unthinkable! They won the National Stick Curling Championship Women's Division. It was the first time any Ontario team (women's, men's or mixed) had made the podium.
This year, Nancy and Caroline aced the Provincial Championship, winning all their games and securing their spot in the Nationals.
Our club rallied to support them on their journey to the 2025 Nationals in Grande Prairie, Alberta.  These competitions are costly to attend and there is no prize money awarded.
Thanks to everyone who helped them.  Our Women's League collected $400.  A raffle of pretty nice prices totalled $840.  And we received a grant-in-aid from the Municipality of Brighton for $ 1000.  So we were able to send them off with $ 2,240.

Here's Nancy and Caroline's message to us all:
"To all members of BDCC:   Wow!  What and incredible club to belong to!   The Esprit de Corps, the financial and moral support, that has been given to us is totally indescribable.   We are absolutely blessed to know you are all behind us for our upcoming competition!!   We know of no other club that bolsters its members like Brighton.  From the bottom of our hearts, we say:   thank you so very much.  One rock at a time."
A side note:  the winner of the Brock Street Brewery Keg, Keith Bridges, asked for donations in return for a pint.  Donations went to Supper's Ready in Brighton.
